What I enjoyed was getting to make an art piece that I got to destroy and put back together. This was called "earthquake art". I also liked making a small sculpture of something I liked. The sculpture was made of clay. We also talked about the different types of jobs that include art like architects, painters, sculptors and landscapers. Also, we talked about primary, secondary and tertiary colors. Tertiary means three colors mixed, brown is an example of a tertiary color because it is three colors mixed.
While we were working on the artist achievement we also got to listen to some different kinds of music and talk about them. The music talk was used for our music belt loop and the showman achievement.

Welcome to the new Webelos II Patrol - The Buffalo Patrol! Being that we are here in beautiful Colorado and attend Fronteir Valley Elementary school, I thought it was only fitting that this year's Webelos II Patrol be The Buffalo Patrol. Even though the Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep is the state animal, the mascot for FVE is the Buffalo and we can see Buffalo in protected areas here in Colorado. Not only that, but the Buffalo is a strong animal and Webelos II are strong scouts! Let's get ready for a great year of Scouting!

Sometimes getting badges in cub scouts isn't as easy as you think. Just like me, the Aquanaut was a tricky one. I would not go in any water in a pool that was above my head. I felt really cruddy when I was sitting out because I was scared of going in the deep end while all my scout friends were playing water polo.
So after that day, I made a promise to myself that I would conquer my fear of water and get that badge. I took swim lessons for a while and found out that there's no reason to be scared of water. My swim teacher taught me how to swim on my back, float and jump/dive off the diving board. In the end, it took real guts (and hard work) to break the fear of water.
I'm am really proud of getting the Aquanaut. -- Jackson

A great big thank you to Mr. Johnson for arranging our ski trip to Arapahoe Basin! He arranged for our den to visit with the ski patrol and learn about avalanche safety and explore all of their equipment. Ruby, the rescue dog, was fantastic. The entire staff at A-Basin were patient and courteous the entire day, especially for those of us who spent more time on the snow and not on the skis
. Thank you also to the boys for being very encouraging to me. I will conquer the chair lifts yet.

Yesterday my pack (881) was up in A-Basin f or a special ski trip with a ski patrol man. We learned some special mountain survival skills. We also met a ski patrol dog and learned how to find a missing person. My favorite part about skiing was the moguls and the blue runs. I had a great time with my friends and acquired some new skills that might come in handy one day. -- Alec

When you go skiing you should always dress in layers even if it's not cold, because you don't know if you're going to wipe-out or not. Also you should always wear thick socks and warm gloves, because you DO NOT WANT FROSTBITE. Another thing you should bring is a helmet. If you don't have one a skateboard or bike helmet will also work. Always bring lots of sunscreen, because you can get a worse sunburn when you're skiing then laying on the beach from the glare bouncing off of the snow. -- Scott

I liked the CPR thing the most. I learned so much. Like how to do what you need to do when something is wrong.
ex. If you get frost bite, you warm them up as soon as possible. -- Alex
